The running game churned out 142 yards and controlled the tempo all afternoon, keeping the New Orleans offense on the sideline and the clock moving. The Patriots imposed their will physically, and the Saints simply couldn't match the intensity in the trenches.
The defense brought the pressure when it mattered most, recording three sacks and harassing the Saints' quarterback into a series of hurried throws and bad decisions. The red zone defense was especially impressive, bending but never breaking when New Orleans threatened to close the gap. A 3-for-4 mark in the red zone on offense sealed the deal — this team is finishing drives and making their opportunities count.
What's most encouraging about this stretch is the balance. The Patriots aren't relying on any one player or any one phase of the game. The offense is diversified, the defense is flying around, and the coaching staff is putting players in positions to succeed week after week.
