We knew it was a possibility once the trade deadline buzz started, but it still stings a little. Keion White has been traded to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick.
White was a 2023 second-round pick who showed flashes of being a disruptive edge presence, but he never quite put it all together consistently in New England. With the Patriots building for the future under Vrabel and Wolf, the front office clearly decided the draft capital was more valuable than keeping a player who wasn't part of the long-term core.
It's a modest return, but this is how smart teams operate. You can't get attached to names — you have to make the moves that serve the bigger picture. The Patriots have 11 picks in the 2026 draft and every one of them matters.
Best of luck in San Francisco, Keion. Pats Nation wishes you well.
