For the secondary, this is critical. Offensively, there's less on the line—the starters are mostly set—but the reserves and bubble guys still have a stage. James Hudson III and the tackle group can show Vrabel they've got the nasty they need. The skill position depth gets tested against real pressure looks. Even practice squad caliber guys get one more chance to catch something, break a tackle, prove they've got NFL juice.
By tomorrow morning, we'll know more about this roster than we do right now. Joint practices aren't pretty, and the tape won't look like highlight reels, but they're honest. The Eagles are coming with real intent. The Patriots will respond accordingly. When it's over, the roster will start feeling more real.
