The Patriots are heading into Sunday's Seahawks matchup without three rotation pieces, and Mike Vrabel's got decisions to make. TreVeyon Henderson, Ben Brown, and Christian Barmore all sat out practice this week, which means the depth chart isn't just theoretical anymore—it's going live.
Henderson's absence matters most in the short term. As a backup in the running back room, he's depth behind Rhamondre Stevenson, but preseason snaps count for evaluation purposes. You don't want to lose tape on a young back when you're still figuring out your pecking order. The alternatives—Hassan Haskins, Corey Kiner, JaMycal Hasty—are fine, but if Henderson's dealing with something that lingers, the Patriots lose continuity with a player they invested in.
Brown's injury at center is the real concern. Garrett Bradbury is your starter, but having a capable backup matters in the trenches. Joe Michalski is the other option, and he's got to be ready to go. One hit to Bradbury in Week 1 and you need someone competent in there immediately. Brown's availability going forward is something to monitor closely.
Then there's Barmore. The defensive tackle room is deep—really deep—with names like Jaquelin Roy, Joshua Farmer, and David Blay Jr. all on the roster. But Barmore represents a certain level of proven production that you can't just replace with shuffle-and-shuffle. Vrabel's defensive line scheme demands versatility, and losing a piece mid-preparation throws off timing and communication drills.
This is the preseason grind in action. Vrabel came in with a reputation for handling injuries and rotating bodies. This week will show whether his system can absorb these absences without missing a beat, or whether Sunday's game against Seattle reveals cracks in the depth that looked solid on paper.
